early gifts

Do you know Lesli DeVito’s work?  Go see leslidevitopaintings.blogspot.com.  I asked her to paint a portrait of our little dog, for his companion who still misses him.DSCN6991

Someone will be very happy on Christmas morning.  Lesli captured our fiercely brave and sweet buddy perfectly.

One Response to early gifts

  1. Hi Jody! I love the portrait, and what a beautiful tribute to your little dog. His personality really jumps off the canvas. What a gift she has. My niece Olivia has been painting pet portraits for several years. She did one of Barkley and captured his little joyful “spirit” better than an photograph ever could. It is one of my treasures. Knowing how you love animals so, I thought you might enjoy seeing her Etsy site, it is called: Beaumont Studios, she also has a blog under the same name where she explains some of the inspirations for her artwork.

She also does a series of fine oil paintings of rare animals in baroque style costumes. I am constantly amazed at what comes out of our dear girl’s imagination. The paintings are so beautiful, royal and opulent looking, yet they have a whimsical touch that is so unique and so Olivia. Ever since she was a little girl she has looked at life with an artist’s eye.

I am still getting over a long bout of bronchitis. I have been enjoying knitting up some preemie hats to donate to a hospital charity. I have also had fun going to Ralvery and looking at new patterns. It has been storming outside today which has made having to be indoors with my yarn very cozy.

We recently had Barkley groomed by a new friend who has a mobile grooming service. She did such a good job. I think you would have got a kick out the whole procedure. She has a bus that has been converted with all the state of the art grooming tools. It looks like a pet store inside. She even has tanks of hot water. She just drove up and plugged into our garage. The vet wanted him to have a short cut to help with some of his skin issues. I don’t know how she did it but she made my Barkley look like a puppy again. He feels like a plush teddy bear. I hope you had a nice week my friend and I wish you a lovely evening filled with inspiration! With Love, Delisa 🙂
